Congratulations to the Under 12 Delacombe Park Cricket Team for winning the 2014/15 Premiership trophy
The boys played Somerville at Fruitgowers Reserve in Somerville. Having finished 2nd on the ladder behind Somerville only on percentage, they boys felt good going into the match having beat them at home in Round 6. But playing in a Grand Final and playing away at Somerville was always going to be a tricky task.
We won the toss and sent Someville in and we got off to a flyer having them 1 for 5 then 2 for 5, but Somerville we prepared to fight and put got themselves to 67 for the 3rd wicket before we picked up 2 quick wickets to have them 4 for 67.
Some steady batting and some quality all round bowling saw us restrict Somerville to 9 for 111. All the boys had a bowl and bowled well to keep them to a hard but possible target to chase, but still Somerville had the runs on the board

So we had a good score to chase and it was going to take every player to chase it down. Delacombe got off to a better start putting on 12 for the first wicket loser Porter for 2.
We then lost McFarlane for 10 after Nissanka had retired for 33. The boys steadied the ship before we lost Smith and Horell both with the score on 87. Godsell and Noble then put on another 11 runs before both were dismissed on 98.
Delacombe then had aanother partnership before 2 more quick wickets had Vieregge and Poole both out with the score on 109.
8 wickets down and needing 3 runs to win it was Nickson and Mackenzie who got us over the line meaning Willuweit didn’t need to have a hit, and saw Delacombe Park Under 12 team run out Premiers.
