The league looked into the possibility of playing this weekend after the Health minister said that local Cricket should go ahead. Unfortunately they have decided to stick to there original decision. Highest ranked team in the grand final is declared the Premiers.
Well done to Craig Blight and the 3s for a fabulous season. You went through undefeated and deserve the recognition of being Premiers. ... See MoreSee Less
I don’t normally do this but with the unusual circumstances, felt the need to send a message out to all our club members.
Today has been a hard pill to swallow as the Club was about to embark on the biggest and best weekend of the club’s history. 4 sides had qualified for the Grand Final this weekend and honestly, all were a massive chance of winning. We as a club and committee have worked so hard to get to this point.
The club agrees 100% with the MPCA with their decision to not play this weekend because at the end of the day, our club members, families and opposition supporters health is way more important. It’s not worth the risk.
Personally, as a player involved, I feel hard done by and unfulfilled. But those feelings will pass in the coming days. The reason they will pass is because I’m so damn proud of this club. I’m proud for what we have worked so hard for, for what we have come back from and for what we stand for.
I look around and see the youth around this club and can’t believe how lucky we’re. From the ages of 14 through to 23, we are so lucky to have so many talented and hard-working bunch of kids. The future is bright and can’t wait to see where it goes with this group.
But it’s not only the young ones that impress me. We have a group of older players like Chico, Andy, Joel, Dean, Streks, Ricky, Jonny etc who lead by example and are great people around the club. Be proud of what you have achieved this season.
To Ricky Ramsdale, be proud of what you have brought and achieved at this club. Before you got here, we were lucky to have 10 people train on a Tuesday night. Now, we have 30 plus every night. You brought a competitive spirit to this club which is unrivalled and a passion that is unmatched. You should be proud of the results and the players you have made better since being at the club.
To Rowan Charles, what a win in the semi final that was. I was apart of the game (not much) but the calmness you bring to the team full of kids was astonishing. You had a team of 3 guys 30 + and the rest were under 23. You lead this team through the most volatile situation and the kids repaid you with effort and fight that the opposition couldn’t match. It really impressed me how calm you were.
To Craig Blight, Undefeated for a whole season is nothing to sneeze at. You lead this team with class and calmness throughout the whole season. This team was a lot of fun to be apart of and really happy to have spent most of the year in this team. As I’ve said before, if you read our group chat, you would probably think we hate each other. But in reality, there is a lot of trust and belief in this team. We played with confidence and the results showed.
To David Warne, you have the thankless job of being chairman of selectors and captain of the 4’s. You very rarely had the same players in you team but as usual, you lead this team with your calm demeanour. Your team was peaking at the right time of the year and it’s a shame you didn’t get to play this weekend.
To my committee, Rowan, Craig, Sharon, Shandelle, Andy, Bundy, Sharyn H, Al, Ash, Megs etc Thank you for your efforts and for being the hard workers you’re. You make my job a lot easier when I know I can rely on you all.
I guess this letter is emotional build up I have from the high of last weekend to the low of today. I love this club and people of this club so much that I felt the need to write it down. I guess the theme of this letter is Proud. I’m so proud of this club and will continue to be.
